====== absence policy ====== Seminar-type courses come with a strict absence policy at SEAS. ===== classes meeting once a week ===== * **three** absences are tolerated without any consequence * **four** absences will normally not be tolerated; the teacher may choose to tolerate 4 absences, but only if he/she specifies the extra tasks to be performed in compensation of the 4th absence, and announces to agree to such a practice at start of term * **five** or more absences will not be tolerated ===== classes meeting twice a week ===== * **six** absences are tolerated without any consequence * **more than six,** but less than ten absences will normally not be tolerated; the teacher may choose to tolerate so many absences, but only if he/she specifies the extra tasks to be performed in compensation of the 7th absence, and announces to agree to such a practice at start of term * **ten** absences will not be tolerated ===== lecture courses ===== Lecture courses typically do not require attendance (it is useful to attend lectures though ;-) ). If a lecture requires attendance, this is specified in the curriculum.
