English vs American track for BA major students

At the end of the first term of your BA major in English and American studies, you have to make a choice between the English and the American track. If you do not make a choice, you will continue in the English track. Accordingly, if you select the English track, you do not have to take any action. If you select the American track, you have to register your request. Depending on the number of applicants to the American Track, a round of interviews may be held in January.

The curriculum of the two tracks are different in the following thirteen courses.

courses specific to the English track

courses specific to the American track

further consequences

If you select the American track, you will be expected to select some topic related to American studies for your thesis (your supervisor may come from other departments). Your final examination will be before an American studies committee.

interview

Depending on the number of applicants there will be an interview in mid-January. For further details see the American Track FAQ.
